Couverture Desserts Ltd was established in 1998 and currently employs 49 full time staff. Couverture is a major supplier of luxury premium desserts to airlines, hotels, restaurants, catering companies, distributors and to the retail trade. The company manufactures over 20,000 desserts per day from its manufacturing site Naas, Co Kildare and has maintained its Grade A - B.R.C (British Retail Consortium) accreditation for the 12th year running.
Couverture has an extensive product range of fresh, frozen, chilled and ambient products. The range comprises of gateau, cheesecakes, pies, tarts, puddings, potted desserts, individual desserts, mini assiettes, protein and vegan snacking treats and afternoon tea.
All products are produced and frozen which gives the product 12 -18mths shelf life depending on the product type and customer. There are no shelf life restrictions as all products can be shipped frozen and reworked at its destination.
Couverture Desserts has won many food awards. We have 4 Great Taste Awards, 25 Blas na hEireann and 2 Irish Quality Food Awards. 2012 was a significant award winning year when the company was awarded Best in Innovation 2012 with Supervalu and overall National Food Producer 2012 with Supervalu and Enterprise Ireland.
Couverture`s products and services can be divided into three main categories-
1) Foodservice
2) Retail
3) Airline/ Contract Manufacturing.
Foodservice involves the manufacturing of dessert product offerings suitable for the catering trade. There are three routes to market cash and carry, direct delivery and frozen food distributors. Products for this category are 10” pre-portioned cakes, cheesecakes, and pastry products, individual versions of these and bespoke items for the event chef’s menu.
Retail: Couverture manufacture premium desserts, cakes and traybakes for sale under the Couverture Brand and Own Label for many retailers including Supervalu, Centra and Aldi.
Airline and Contract manufacture – Couverture manufacture private label brands for The Happy Pear, Everest, Aer Lingus, Apache Pizza, Musgrave Excellence, Coup De Pate & Cuisine De France.
