Dairy
Ireland’s dairy industry is built on the family-farm tradition and represents Ireland’s largest food & drink export category. On average, 95% of Irish dairy cows' diet is made up of grass. Despite the challenges that 2020 brought, Irish dairy products were exported to 148 countries in 2020, up 24 on 2019.

Meat & Livestock was the second largest export category for Ireland in 2020, valued at €3.4bn. Irish meat & livestock is exported to 87 countries world wide. Irish grass-fed beef is world renowned for its exceptional quality and is a premium product favoured by chefs across the world.
MeatBeverages
Since 2016 the value of Irish alcohol exports has grown by €140m. Whiskey is a significant contributor to this growth with the sub-category growing from just 4 distilleries in 2013 to 26 distilleries in 2020. Irish alcohol beverages are exported to 140 markets worldwide.
BeveragePrepared Consumer Foods
Irish exports of PCF were worth €2.5bn in 2020 with the category including meal solutions, confectionary, non-alcoholic beverages, ingredients and value-added meat, seafood, and horticulture. Irish PCF producers export to over 119 countries.
Food IngredientsOrigin Green
Over 90% of Irish food & drink exports come from companies that participate in Ireland’s pioneering food and drink sustainability programme called Origin Green. The programme collaborates with over 53,000 farms and 324 leading Irish food and drink companies who are committed to making sustainable and environmental improvements in their farms and businesses.
