Established in 1992, Wild Atlantic Shellfish started as a marketing company owned and operated by shellfish farmers in Sligo Bay. Over a decade later, in 2015, it was reactivated and renamed Wild Atlantic Shellfish Ltd.

The company's core business is the marketing of live oysters cultivated by the oyster farmers in Sligo Bay.

The oysters are then packed in a variety of options for distribution to both foodservice and retail customers and exported to Europe by sea and road, and by air freight to other destinations in Asia, Canada, etc.

Why Us

Wild Atlantic Shellfish's small, family-owned production units have a combined production capacity of 200T and opportunities to expand.

The company operates its own hatchery, depuration and packing facility, and provides full administrative sales and customer support.

Last but not least, the oysters' genetic traceability spans 40 years.

Oyster production by its nature depends fundamentally on clean sea water, however, the overall operation requires the use of a wide variety of materials and equipment, and a significant input of manual labour. It is therefore essential that a sustainability plan focuses on sustainable materials, energy and water consumption, the efficient use of equipment and the welfare of employees. The company embraces these challenges and looks forward to continued growth based on a reputation for responsible management of its production systems.
